DARPA Lift Challenge
Raising the Bar for Heavy‑Lift Aviation
PyroDelta has entered the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Lift Challenge, a global competition pushing innovators to rethink what heavy‑lift drones can do. The competition takes place August 2–9, 2026 at historic Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio
Teams must design and operate a drone capable of lifting more than twice its own weight—an engineering milestone that would redefine logistics, emergency response, defense operations, and remote‑access transport.
PyroDelta’s Heavy-Lift Drone
By integrating its Capillary Casting thermoelectric technology into a lightweight, high output drone platform, PyroDelta is demonstrating how waste heat recovery can enhance lift performance, extend flight time, and reduce onboard electrical load. The company’s innovations around weight reduction, thermal management, and power generation position its design as a strong contender—and showcase how thermoelectrics can unlock new capabilities in next generation heavy lift aircraft.
